There are many races and running events that take place throughout the year. As well as half marathons of 13.1 miles and full marathons of 26.2 miles you can also find a variety of fun runs with distances that range up to 10k or more. You can also find events that run past famous landmarks, through stunning parks, and around some of most beautiful cities in the country. Themed events like the Santa run also provide a fun way to raise money for your chosen charity.
The Santa Run, in Greenwich Park, is a 5k fun run and this means that your time is less important than completing the race. Registration is open to people of all ages and abilities and, if you like, you can choose to walk the race rather than exert the additional energy required to run it.
The Santa Run is a themed race and this means that the majority of people that take part turn up in Santa and Christmas related costumes. Santa, snowmen, reindeer, and elves regularly take part in what has become one of the most popular fundraising running events that the capital has to offer. There is a low entry fee for the event and, depending on the charity that you choose to run for, there is usually a low sponsorship target required for entry.
There are many great charities that entrants can choose to run for including St Mungo’s; a homeless charity that aims to end the plight of the homeless on UK streets. The charity relies on donations from the public and pledges from supporters along with those that raise sponsorship money throughout the year taking part in fun runs and other events like the Santa Run.
Registration will cost £20 and, with St Mungo’s, you need to attract a minimum of just £95 sponsorship. Once registered you will receive a fundraising pack as well as help setting up your own JustGiving pledge page. As well as a St Mungo’s running vest you even receive a free Santa outfit so that you can take part in the run without having to spend a fortune on an outfit too.
St Mungo’s offers guidance and advice to all of its runners. Register today for the Santa Run and you not only receive a free fundraising pack and Mungo’s vest but you can see how the money is spent helping the homeless.
